Google recently released a new website testing tool that can test your website’s speed and level of mobile-friendliness. With the increased use of mobile devices, it is imperative that websites perform well. Users are much more likely to leave a site if it isn’t mobile-friendly and/or doesn’t load quickly. The new tool can be found at https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/.
The tool has been designed to be easy to use, and simple enough that non-technical people can use it. Users just have to enter the website’s address to get the results. The three categories that are tested by the tool include Mobile Friendliness, Mobile Speed, and Desktop Speed. Here is a sample of what the results look like:
Each category is given a numeric score between 1 and 100 that appears in either green, yellow, or red, indicating whether the score is good, fair, or poor. Once the analysis is complete, you can elect to receive an email with a free report of the results, which includes ideas on what to do next and where to obtain free help.
Experienced developers who would like more technical details on topics such as optimizing content efficiency, the critical rendering path, improving performance, and understanding how your website works under low bandwidth and high latency situations, can find them here.
